Manipur Remote Sensing Applications Centre

The Manipur Remote Sensing Applications Centre (MARSAC) was established as an Autonomous Government Institution with the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Manipur, as its parent Department by a decision of the State Cabinet in 1999. The Centre is registered under Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989 (Manipur Act No. 1 of 1990) and presently it is functioning at the Manipur Secretariat, North Block, Annex Building, 4th Floor, Imphal – 795001. Now, the Centre is functioning under Planning Department, Government of Manipur since 18th July, 2021.

MARSAC is the State Nodal Agency for implementation of various projects using Remote Sensing and GIS technology vide Government of Manipur Order No. 2/8/2015-S&T (MARSAC) dtd. 25th May, 2016. The Centre is implementing National Level projects funded by the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Space Applications Centre (SAC), ISRO, Department of Space, Govt. of India and other Ministries including North Eastern Council (NEC) as well as State Government Departments.

Now, MARSAC has fully geared up with accelerated speed of work in taking up various Remote Sensing and GIS Application Projects, thereby extending research facilities and providing geo-database to the departments/ organizations in the State and also to the Central Govt. MARSAC is also extending services to the various line departments/ agencies by providing important database of natural resources required for different schemes/ project planning.
